The drawings shown below have been made by Ernesto Cuba.

BUTTERFLIES

The design of the drawings on the wings of a butterfly is of infinite variety. If we add to this that the types of colors are also infinite and that the wings of a butterfly also have infinite shapes, we have here three infinities that mix, so we could spend a lifetime drawing and painting butterflies and we would not have done more to start.

BIG BANG

Artistic representation of the Big Bang Theory, according to which the universe is expanding, moving all the planets, stars and galaxies away from each other, so it follows that at the beginning of time, all the mass of the universe I was focused on one point. Some people find it difficult to accept this last statement, however this theory is the one that best explains the behavior of the universe as we know it now and complies with Einstein’s theory of relativity. But let’s not forget that it is a theory; if in the future scientists find a fact or phenomenon that contradicts it, it will probably be discarded. But if this new fact or phenomenon is also satisfactorily explained by this theory, it will strengthen it.

WILHELM ROENTGEN

Throughout our lives we take dozens and dozens of X-rays when we have a health problem. But how did all this start? In late 1895 the German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered x-rays while experimenting with vacuum tubes and an electric generator. These rays easily passed through soft materials, but not hard materials like bone. This made it possible, by contrast, to see the shape of the bones. In early 1896 he X-rayed a broken arm and published it in a major medical journal. Thereafter the applications of his discovery spread throughout the world. He was awarded the 1901 Nobel Prize in Physics.

TEMPTATION EYES

“Temptation Eyes” is the title of a very nice song by the group Grass Roots (I invite you to listen to it on YouTube). I made this drawing from one of those brochures distributed by beauty product distributors; in this case the brand was Yanbal.

PERICLES

Pericles was an Athenian general, politician, and orator. Such was his influence in Athens that the period in which he ruled (400 BC) has been called “the century of Pericles”. He encouraged the arts and literature and ordered the construction of the Acropolis (upper city), including the famous Parthenon. Do you have a friend named Pericles? I don’t, but I remember the chubby son from the television series “The Adams Family”.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Considered by many to be the best president the United States has ever had, Abraham Lincoln is a symbol of moral strength and unfailing integrity. In the most difficult moments of the civil war or war of secession that he had to live through, he knew how to maintain his composure to carry out the actions that allowed him to rise to victory and thus definitively abolish slavery throughout the territory of the Union.

FIFTEEN YEARS

In Latin America there is a custom that when a girl turns 15, her parents organize a big party for her, as a presentation of their daughter to society. In the United States this party is given at the age of 16 (sweet sixteen party); and at the age of 15, many families have the custom of taking the young woman to a photo session. But it’s not just any photo shoot. The girl is made up by professional hands and dressed in fine and enormous dresses that give her the appearance of a much older woman. The beautiful young woman in the photo, with her splendid long hair, was turning fifteen on the day she had the photo I drew of her taken.
